Not Forgotten
Information
Project information
This is a voluntary project to list the survivors of World War 1 from the island of Ireland. The use of the list for commercial gain is against the ethos of the project. The use of the names for any academic reason must not be done without the consent of the project administrator. The project is not in a position to provide any further information nor deal with queries on individual entries.
Research was undertaken to ascertain if there was a list of World War 1 survivor names. similar to Ireland's War Memorial Records of those who were killed in 1914-1918, published in 1923. No such list was discovered. So with the absence of a list giving the names of those who survived World War 1, it was decided to undertake a project to make a list of the names of Ireland's World War 1 survivors. It is hoped to list as many survivor names as possible and make the list permanently available.
WW1 Permanent Sculptures memorial
The Hauntings Sculpture came to Dublin on a temporary to commemorate the end of World War 1. Over 500,000 people came to visit the sculpture in a dignified and respectful manner. There is a project underway to have a permanent World War 1 three piece sculpture to remember those who served from the Island of Ireland and returned home either to the Island of Ireland or elsewhere. No such sculpture exists on this Island. Those that were killed and those they were against, will also be remembered.
